Dynamic Guiding Trio Strikes Again
Nanaimo, BC – October 1, 2011 – Dawnette Humphrey pins Deb Rapanos, Johanna Scott, and Heather Mortimer with their District Commissioner pins. The Girl Guides of Canada – Guides du Canada in Nanaimo’s Hurford District are lucky to have such a strong team to lead them over the next couple of years.
This dynamic trio has just returned from a trip to Mexico with the Pathfinders (12-14 year old) where they stayed at one of Guiding’s 4 World Centres. They experienced Guiding and life in another country. Some of the highlights of the trip included the Basques de Chapultepec with its free zoo and raucous market, the huge pyramids of Teotihaucan, and the Folkloric Ballet. They shared their experiences with girls and leaders from Northern Ireland, Argentina, Alberta, and Mexico.
But the best part of the trip according to Mortimer was the fact that “the Pathfinders went into this experience with open eyes and came home with open hearts. It was such a special trip and I’m so happy that I was able to be a part of that experience with them.”
